2020 mission statement
Over the last few years, with an awareness of both the need for continued education and non-medical support for children undergoing cancer treatment in recognition of our success, and in line with the mission of the Foundation, we continue to explore the theme ‘Looking Ahead’ as part of our growth strategy in 2020.
We are now into our 11th year, providing integrated educational support for children undergoing cancer treatment at the Kidwai Cancer Institute and the Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Centre, Narayana Hrudalaya.
Two years ago, 15-year-old Jayanth Singh was not allowed to rejoin his old school in 9th Grade because of his grades in Math, a result of disturbance due to cancer remission and financial need. Samiksha helped facilitate his admission into MEC School and thus the continuation of his education. This highlighted the need for financial support for these surviving, thriving students, who continue to pursue their learning post-cancer with zest and rigour.
The criteria for selection of the student awardees are:
- The child went through cancer treatment.
- They were part of a Samiksha Learning Program or recommended by the Oncologists at one of our Learning Centres.
- They show evidence of actively pursuing higher education, into college.
SSP Launch: March 2018
On 25 March 2018, we had a very heartening and enthusiastic launch for the ‘Samiksha Scholarships Program’ where 21 scholarships were disbursed to children of 8th to 12th Grade, who have done exceptionally well in school, and wish to continue their studies. This was sponsored by Accel Partners and Samiksha Individual Donors.

In the second series in June 2018, 14 scholarships wholly sponsored by Let’s Do Some Good Foundation (LDSG) through the Devjani Pillai Scholarship Fund (DPSF) were dispersed.
SSP3: January 2019
In January 2019, 35 scholarships were sponsored by LDSG (DPSF), Groupon India, and Individual Donors.
SSP4: January 2020
In January 2020, 63 scholarships were awarded at a well-attended event at the Kidwai Auditorium.
Note from the team
Team Samiksha is very grateful. We are sure the children and their families are grateful too. We kept our faith in our support groups, donors and sponsors. We recognise the tireless efforts of the Samiksha core team and resource people who believe in us and now proudly announce that we are actively setting up a Corpus Fund for the Samiksha Scholarships Program to disburse Scholarships annually to deserving and qualifying Alumni, pursuing higher studies at High School and College.
We urge you to support and contribute to the Samiksha Scholarships Fund to reach out to more children!
Thank you for being an active participant in the ‘Pursuit of Happiness’, in alignment with our motto:
‘The Pursuit of Knowledge is Key to their Pursuit of Happiness.’
The scholarship award is fixed at Rs.10,000/- at the moment per child, at least once a year. In some cases, more might be given depending on the need and fee structure.
