We maintain a library at every learning center. The children are encouraged to borrow books from the library and to write reviews of or discuss the books they have read. The library includes books in English, books in vernacular languages, and multilingual books. The library at the Kapur Ward at KMIO has over 800 books.
Our resource partners for this program are Pratham Books and Tulika Publications and through the Donate-a-book campaign of 2019.
We need volunteers to read to the children everyday and encourage them to read after the teachers leave the ward. They will need to maintain a record of children’s reading habits and set up an awards program for good reading habits.
This is one of the steps to eliminating severe “Learning Poverty” in the country today.
